Tal vez la vista más majestuosa de todas es un eclipse solar total. El Sol es unas 400 veces más grande que la Luna, pero por pura coincidencia está también unas 400 veces más lejos.
Una vez cada pocos años, la Luna pasa directamente entre la Tierra y el Sol, proyectando su sombra sobre una porción pequeña de la Tierra. Dentro de esta sombra, es visible un eclipse solar total y el día se vuelve noche.

Solar Eclipse

Perhaps the most majestic sight of all is a total solar eclipse. The Sun is about 400 times bigger than the Moon, but by complete coincidence it is also 400 times farther away. Once every few years, the Moon passes directly between the Earth and the Sun, casting its shadow over a small part of the Earth. Inside this shadow, a total solar eclipse is visible, and day turns to night.
