Nebulosa del Águila

El Telescopio Espacial Hubble hizo famosa la nebulosa del Águila. Esta imagen del Observatorio Nacional de Kitt Peak en Arizona la muestra en todo su esplendor. Justo en el centro hay columnas de polvo que se llamaron los “Pilares de la Creación”. Aquí vemos que sólo son parte de un cascarón hueco grande de formación estelar que tiene un cúmulo de estrellas jóvenes en su centro. Los colores representan luz emitida por el brillo del hidrógeno (verde), oxígeno (azul) y el azufre (rojo).

Eagle Nebula
7.000 light-years

Made famous by the Hubble Space Telescope, the Eagle Nebula shows all its glory in this image made at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona. Right in the middle are dust columns that became known as the “Pillars of Creation”. Here we see they are just part of a larger hollow shell of star formation, with a young star cluster at its centre. The colours represent light given off by glowing hydrogen (green), oxygen (blue) and sulphur (red).
