Pléyades
400 años-luz

Este cúmulo compacto, visible en las noches de verano en el hemisferio sur y durante las largas noches de invierno en el hemisferio norte, ha sido parte del folklore de muchas culturas alrededor del mundo. La agrupación no es accidental, pues estas estrellas se formaron juntas hace unos 100 millones de años y están unidas unas a las otras por la gravedad. En su recorrido alrededor de nuestra galaxia, la Vía Láctea, estas estrellas se han desplazado a las afueras de una nube de polvo cuyos pequeños granos reflejan la luz estelar y le da el color azul al cúmulo.

Pleiades
400 light-years

This compact cluster, visible during long nights of the northern winter, has entered the folklore of many cultures around the world. The grouping is not accidental, for these stars formed together about 100 million years ago and are bound to each other through gravity. As they drift around our Milky Way Galaxy, these stars have wandered into the outskirts of a dust cloud whose tiny grains reflect the stars’ light and give the cluster its blue colour.
