Esta impactante imagen detallada de Saturno fue capturada por la nave espacial Cassini. Las sombras proyectadas por los anillos se ven en el hemisferio norte del planeta. En el hemisfero sur hay áreas tormentosas grises. La nave espacial Cassini-Huygens despegó en el 1997 para investigar a Saturno, sus anillos y sus lunas. Para esta vista se han combinado 126 imágenes. Todas fueron tomadas durante un período de dos horas a una distancia de 6.3 millones de kilómetros de Saturno el 6 de Octubre del 2004.

This strikingly detailed image of Saturn was captured by the Cassini spacecraft. Shadows cast by the rings are seen in the planet’s northern hemisphere. In the southern hemisphere are stormy grey areas. The Cassini- Huygens spacecraft was launched in 1997 to investigate Saturn, its rings and its moons.126 images have been combined to form this view. They were all taken over a period of two hours at a distance of 6.3 million kilometres from Saturn on 6 October 2004.
