Gran Mancha Roja

La Gran Mancha Roja es una enorme tormenta anticiclónica unas tres veces el tamaño de la Tierra, que se encuentra en el hemisferio sur del gigante de gas, Júpiter. Es visible hasta utilizando un telescopio modesto, el color es variable y se piensa que vienen de compuestos orgánicos. La tormenta ha sido estudiada durante los últimos 178 años y quizás fue registrada tan temprano como en el 1665. Los vientos en la orilla de la mancha se mueven a 560 kilómetros por hora.

Great Red Spot

The Great Red Spot is a vast, stormy anticyclone about three times the size of Earth, found in the southern hemisphere of the gas giant Jupiter. Visible even through a modest telescope, the colour is variable and is thought to be from organic compounds. The storm has been studied for at least 178 years and may even have been recorded as early as 1665. Winds at the edge of the spot tear along at up to 560 kilometres per hour.
