El Sol en Hidrógeno-Alfa

Cuando observamos el Sol con la luz de los átomos de hidrógeno se captura una vista dramática de nuestra estrella hogar. Solamente se ven erupciones de la superficie del Sol y columnas de gas. Las rayas oscuras son estos arcos de gas vistos desde arriba. En la parte central inferior de la imagen se ven unas manchas oscuras. Estas son las manchas solares, depresiones en la superficie causadas por el campo magnético complejo del Sol.

Sun in Hydrogen-Alpha

Looking at the Sun in the light of hydrogen atoms, a dramatic view of our home star is captured. Only eruptions from the surface of the Sun and plumes of gas are seen. The darker streaks are these arcs of gas viewed from above. At the bottom centre of the image, darker patches are visible. These are so-called sunspots, depressions in the surface caused by the Sun’s complex magnetic
field.
