Cúmulo Globular de Hércules

Colgado en el cielo como una bolsa de diamantes relucientes, el cúmulo globular de Hércules es un grupo esférico de cientos de miles de estrellas. El cúmulo fue descubierto por Edmund Halley (el del famoso cometa) en 1714, y es apenas visible a simple vista. En 1974 un mensaje de radio fue enviado hacia el cúmulo en nombre de la Humanidad desde el Observatorio de Arecibo, con la esperanza de que una colección tan densa de estrellas tuviera mayor probabilidad de albergar vida en uno de sus planetas.

Hercules Globular Cluster

Hanging in the sky like a glittering bag of diamonds, the Hercules Globular Cluster is a spherical group of hundreds of thousands of stars. The cluster was discovered by Edmund Halley (of comet fame) in 1714, and is barely visible to the naked eye. In 1974 a radio message was sent towards the cluster on behalf of humanity from the Arecibo Observatory, in the hope that such a dense collection of stars has a higher chance of one harbouring life on one of its planets.
