Esta imagen muestra el área alrededor del cúmulo estelar NGC 2467, localizado en Puppis (la popa), una constelación al sur. Con una edad de unos cuantos millones de años, es una guardería estelar muy activa, donde continuamente nacen estrellas nuevas en grandes nubes de polvo y gas. La estrella brillante en el centro de la región rosada más grande en la parte inferior de la imagen es una estrella jóven masiva que está ayudando a definir la estructura global de la región.

This image shows the area surrounding the stellar cluster NGC 2467, located in the southern constellation of Puppis (the stern). With an age of a few million years, it is a very active stellar nursery where new stars are continuously born from large clouds of dust and gas. The bright star in the centre of the largest pink region at the bottom of the image is a massive young star that is helping shape the structure of the whole region.
